Causes leading to the Civil War
There were a lot of things leading to the Civil War. But some were more significant than others. One important thing that led to the Civil War is the conflict dealing with slavery between the North and the South. The North was against slavery and were free states. Whereas the South’s whole economy was based around exporting slaves and using their labor to produce cotton. There was a lot of conflict when new states were added into the United States because the North wanted them to be free, but the South wanted more slave states. Another thing that caused conflict was Uncle Tom’s Cabin. This caused conflict because it told the truth on how slaves were treated. The South did not like this because they felt that it was misleading and not correct. One final thing that led to the Civil War was John Brown’s raid. John Brown’s Raid was an attack in a town called Harper’s Ferry. John’s plan was to take the weapons and ammo from the federal stockpile. John was a big anti-slavery person and upon his death, the north was motivated to end slavery in the United States. That’s some of the causes of the War.
